TrackCore Interfaces With Cerner’s Surginet

Date: 9/3/2010

TrackCore Software, product of LPIT Solutions, Inc., is able to provide customers with integration to Surginet, Cerner’s perioperative and anesthesia information system. This integration allows customers to fully utilize both software applications’ functionality, eliminating the need for clinical staff to have to document information into two unique systems. Through the use of the industry standard messaging method known as HL7, data is sent from Surginet to a Lawson Cloverleaf Secure Courier (licensed from LPIT Solutions) and then into the TrackCore application.

This process is in use by three medical facilities at the University of Missouri and reduces the amount of data that the end users are required to enter in order to meet Joint Commission documentation requirements for the tracking of implants and tissues.

Many more Surginet interfaces are in the planning or implementation stages and there is always room for more interfaces at LPIT Solutions. Any interested existing customers or hospitals looking for Joint Commission tissue tracking compliance software that integrates with Surginet should contact the LPIT Solutions’ TrackCore sales department at http://www.lpitsolutions.com/contact/contactform/sales/trackcore

TrackCore Interfaces With Meditech

Date: 9/2/2010

MEDITECH is an established vendor of integrated Health Care Information Systems and TrackCore is the market leading vendor of implant and tissue tracking software designed to assist hospitals in meeting Joint Commission compliance requirements for the tracking of tissue and implants. With many hospitals searching for ways to streamline their tracking and documentation efforts as well as ramp up their efforts to meet Meaningful Use requirements, the TrackCore team at LPIT Solutions has worked with a variety of hospitals to allow them to integrate the two systems to accomplish their goals.

Three facilities in the Christus Health system are exporting ADT messages from MEDITECH through their Lawson Cloverleaf integration engine into the secure TrackCore data transport application then into TrackCore. Currently over 1,000 ADT messages are sent from the 3 facilities daily.

Catawba Valley Medical Center is sending SIU scheduling messages from MEDITECH through their E-gate Interface Engine to the Cloverleaf Secure Courier client (licensed from Lawson through LPIT Solutions) and into the TrackCore application. Three facilities in the Catholic HealthCare West system are also in the process of implementing this HL7 interface option.

St. John’s Westshore Hospital, has taken a slightly different approach, and has created a process where they print a sheet of 1D barcodes from MEDITECH and then use that barcode sheet and a barcode scanner to enter data into TrackCore without the user having to touch the keyboard.

Many more MEDITECH interfaces are in the planning or implementation stages and there is always room for more MEDITECH interfaces at LPIT Solutions. Any interested existing customers or hospitals looking for Joint Commission tissue tracking compliance software that integrates with MEDITECH should contact the LPIT Solutions’ TrackCore sales department at http://www.lpitsolutions.com/contact/contactform/sales/trackcore .

Cleveland Clinic & LPIT Complete Enterprise Agreement for TrackCore Software

Date: 9/1/2010

At the TUG10 TrackCore User Conference, hosted by the Cleveland Clinic August 8-10, 2010, LPIT Solutions and the Cleveland Clinic announced the completion of an Enterprise Agreement that provides LPIT Solutions’ market leading implant and tissue tracking software to all of the Cleveland Clinic’s North American facilities.

In 2007, the Transplant Center and the Quality and Patient Safety Institute [at the Cleveland Clinic (sic)] implemented tissue tracking compliance software [TrackCore (sic)] designed to ensure adherence to Joint Commission standards for tissue transplantation and improve patient safety. This web-based program allows for bi-directional tracking of tissue from the donor or source facility to the recipient or other final disposition, including inventory monitoring, the ability to track the movement of tissue throughout the organization, storage of validation and patient implant records and the ability to monitor and log adverse events or donor infections so they can be properly reported. By the end of 2007, the tissue tracking system was in use at Main Campus and the three Ambulatory Surgery Centers for all areas using tissue. This is an excerpt from the Cleveland Clinic website and can be found in whole at http://my.clevelandclinic.org/transplant/services/bone/default.aspx.

ARRA allows hospitals to receive financial incentives from Medicare and Medicaid for meeting Meaningful Use benchmarks.

James’ presentation will focus on one of LPIT Solutions’ core company values, delivering highly functional, budget-friendly software to solve internal and external customer business needs. The presentation will focus on how hospitals, in particular, can leverage Software as a Service (SaaS) applications like LPIT Solutions’ TrackCore platform in conjunction with the Cloverleaf Secure Courier client to create a fully integrated, budget-friendly software solution.

RFID & TrackCore – Join the Future of Innovation

Date: 8/30/2010

On August 10, 2010, LPIT Solutions closed the TUG10 TrackCore User Group Conference by introducing the latest evolution of its market leading Implant and Tissue Tracking Software. TrackCore RFID and Mobile was introduced as a means that will further simplify and streamline the implant tracking process.

TrackCore has partnered with hardware vendor Informs, Inc ( http://www.informsinc.com/ ) and is piloting the new platform at the Cleveland Clinic’s ( http://www.clevelandclinic.org/ ) main campus. The application introduces Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) read/write capabilities, 1D/2D barcoding, touch screens and mobile device capabilities to reduce the keystrokes required to meet Joint Commission implant tracking documentation requirements and to simplify the overall process.

A new desktop based user interface utilizes the best features of kiosk style applications and applies it to the regulatory compliance and supply chain in healthcare environments. The TrackCore add-on works with customers’ existing web application data, enabling users to access TrackCore from either the software as a service (SaaS) web-based interface or from the RFID and Mobile interfaces. Those that had the opportunity to preview the application, at TUG10, found the user interface very user-friendly and viewed it as another significant step in streamlining the implant and tissue tracking process.

LPIT Solutions is currently in the pilot phase with The Cleveland Clinic, and will be looking for additional beta / pilot sites interested in implementing this solution in the very near future. Any existing or future customers interested in investigating this solution should contact LPIT Solutions at http://www.lpitsolutions.com/contact/contactform/sales/trackcore and join the future of innovation.

Tissue TrackCore Now Supports RFID Technology

Date: 3/26/2009

At the 2009 AORN Congress, LPiT Solutions, the developer of Tissue TrackCore announced that their software solution now supports integration with RFID hardware. RFID hardware is used to wirelessly receive product identification information from an RFID label and then electronically transmit the information directly to Tissue TrackCore, reducing the number of keystrokes required to perform data entry if bar code scanners are not in use. The RFID integration allows hospitals to track items with less manual data entry, providing for quicker and more accurate data entry, thus saving hospitals time and money.
Tissue TrackCore has become a best in breed solution for meeting Joint Commission and FDA compliance regulations regarding the tracking of tissue and other implantable items. Developed by a group of healthcare and technology professionals, Tissue TrackCore continues to evolve in ways that make tracking implantable items and meeting compliance regulations easier, faster and more affordable. In the next few months, Tissue TrackCore will be integrating even more technology to make meeting Joint Commission requirements that much faster and easier.

Did You Know? Several New Changes To The Joint Commission Standards for 2009 Could Affect How Hospitals Transplant Tissue And Organs.

Date: 3/26/2009

There are several new changes to the Joint Commission Standards for 2009. One of the biggest changes directly affects the transplanting of tissues and organs.
  • Transplant Safety (TS) is now its own Gold Chapter and a hospital must meet all the Elements of Performance (EP) in this chapter as a “Requirement for Accreditation”
What this means: The Joint Commission surveyor will spend time doing tracers and reviews on your entire tissue program.
  • The new TS chapter requires more Documentation and new Measures of Success.
What this means: A Measure of Success (MOS) is needed. An MOS is defined as a quantifiable measure, usually related to an audit, which will be used to determine whether an action has been effective and is being sustained.
  • There are now six Elements of Performance (EP) that are critically tagged and fall under the “Direct Impact Requirement” {TS .03.01.01 #5, #10} {TS .03.02.01 #1} {TS .03.03.01 #3, #4, #5}
What this means: If one or more Direct Impact EPs under a standard are found to be partially or insufficiently compliant, then all EPs under that standard must be addressed in an Evidence of Standards Compliance (ESC) within 45 days. Failure to send in the ESC or the MOS can result in either conditional accreditation or even denial of accreditation, or an unannounced on-site validation survey to see if you have made the required changes.
  • Tissue TrackCore (TTC) is the only tissue tracking compliance software to be reviewed by the Joint Commission Resources. TTC can help you simply and efficiently meet all of the new standards with minimum impact on your staff.
What this means: For the cost of a couple of pieces of tissue you can not only ensure compliance, but also save time and reduce costs by purchasing the market leading software solution.

Tissue TrackCore Director Featured in Materials Management in Healthcare Magazine

Date: 1/2/2009

Tissue TrackCore’s Director of Training and Implementation, Alan Brander, was recently featured in an article titled Keeping Track of Tissue in the Supply Chain in Materials Management in Health Care magazine. In the article, Alan, a former Chief Nursing Officer, remarked on how things are different now than in prior years.
In the past, materials managers really cared about whether the right order showed up at the right time on the loading dock. Now the Joint Commission wants you to track every interaction that every person has with that tissue.
Penn State Hershey Medical Center, a current Tissue TrackCore customer, is also mentioned in the article. The hospital’s director of surgical services, Matt Brennan agrees with Alan:
... materials managers must be aware that a new age of tissue care has dawned—one that requires increased tracking, record keeping and accountability. Sooner or later, some agency will knock on every hospital door, experts say. If you can show that you have your ducks in a row, you won’t have a problem. If not, the consequences can be serious.

Tissue TrackCore Wows Joint Commission Surveyors at Two Customer Sites

Date: 1/2/2009

Successful implementations of TrackCore are providing huge dividends for customer hospitals. The implementation and use of TrackCore is leading to successful Joint Commission audits and is easing the minds of OR managers who no longer have to fear whether or not their documentation is up to Joint Commission Standards.

In September of 2008, Spectrum Health United Hospital (SHUM) in Greenville, Michigan joined the ranks of successfully surveyed TrackCore clients. With regard to SHUM’s recent Joint Commission reaccreditation survey, Brian L. Brasser, RN and Chief Nursing Officer at SHUM said:

The physician surveyor remarked that he was "extremely impressed with the on-line tissue tracking program" and particularly liked our ability to quickly display the detail around all of the tissue samples in our program. He mentioned that the functionality provided by Tissue TrackCore was "very impressive" and that it was instrumental in assuring our compliance to the applicable standards.

We are completely satisfied customers of your product.

Additionally, in December of 2008, Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois participated in a “mock” Joint Commission inspection and experienced great results, thanks in part to Tissue TrackCore.

…we had a "mock" JCAHO inspection and one of the first things they asked to see was our tissue tracking system. I was able to easily show how our tissues are documented through log in to implantation. The examiner seemed impressed with our system, taking notes, including getting the TrackCore name. I felt very confident with the organized information that I was able to provide. This will be one less anxiety when the actual JCAHO inspection occurs.

St. Francis Medical Center 'Highly Recommends TrackCore'

Date: 10/14/2008

“I have been the Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Tissue Implantation Program for the last 8 years. When I looked at TTC, I just knew it was exactly how I thought things should work. The TTC software allows us to print a unique bar-code label for each product, so our staff knows which one to scan when there are multiple barcode stickers. In addition, the training program was detailed and well planned after which I felt comfortable doing the training for the OR Staff, Wound Care Center and Blood Bank myself. The TTC Team has been great from start to finish and we have not had any problems. TTC alone does everything and is the only application we use for implant tracking! I can only say good things about TTC and would highly recommend them.”

Tissue TrackCore Successfully Integrates with McKesson’s Pathways Healthcare Scheduling

Date: 9/10/2008

9/9/2008 – Through the use of secured web services, LPiTSolutions, Inc is successfully interfacing with McKesson’s Pathways Healthcare Scheduling (PHS) to ease data entry and improve accuracy in its tissue tracking software, Tissue TrackCore, aimed at assisting medical facilities in meeting Joint Commission standards for tracking allograft and autograft tissue.

In November 2007, LPiTSolutions introduced its Web Services Integration Platform (WSIP) into Tissue TrackCore, in order to provide medical facilities the ability to integrate their other information systems with TrackCore and to realize efficiencies in data entry. WSIP enables medical facilities to integrate a variety of systems that may or may not use HL7 as the standard format for transmitting data.

Additionally, in August of 2008, Tissue TrackCore introduced an HL7 interface as part of its offerings as well. This will allow hospitals with existing HL7 infrastructures, or who are looking to move to HL7, the ability to seamlessly integrate more of their systems with Tissue TrackCore.

Integrations, like the one with PHS, are resulting in the increased operational efficiencies through reduced keystrokes, improved data entry accuracy, and the elimination of redundantly entered data.

If you are a medical facility investigating tissue tracking compliance software, and are interested in operational efficiencies and data integration, be sure to talk to a Tissue TrackCore sales representative about utilizing Tissue TrackCore and WSIP or HL7. If you are an existing Tissue TrackCore user and want to further improve your operational efficiencies even more, call your account representative or our technical support line and ask about our web services and HL7 integration options.

Joint Commission Posts Pre-Release of New 2009 Standards

Date: 9/5/2008

The Joint Commission has recently posted pre-publication versions of the 2009 National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) and the 2009 Hospital Accreditation Requirements which includes a new chapter entitled Transplant Safety. The new publications contain a number of new items that may affect a hospital’s current practices regarding tissue and implant handling.

One of the important changes contained in the 2009 NPSG standard is entitled Universal Protocol (UP.01.01.01), and it addresses the pre-procedure verification process commonly referred to as the “Time Out”. The second Element of Performance for UP.01.01.01, found on page 25, reads:

When the patient is in the pre-procedure area, immediately prior to moving the patient to the procedure room, a checklist (for example, paper, electronic, or other medium such as a wall-mounted white-board) is used to review and verify that the following items are available and accurately matched to the patient:

  • Relevant documentation (for example, history and physical, nursing assessment, and pre-anesthesia assessment).
  • Accurately completed, and signed, procedure consent form.
  • Correct diagnostic and radiology test results (for example, radiology images and scans, or pathology and biopsy reports) that are properly labeled.
  • Any required blood products, implants, devices and /or special equipment for the procedure.”

Tissue TrackCore allows hospitals to easily meet the requirement to review and verify that any needed implants/tissues are available. The holding room or circulating RN can use Tissue TrackCore’s patented Log Activity screen to do a simple search of active inventory for the implants or tissues that are needed for the procedure.

For complete text of the 2009 NPSG standard for hospital programs, see the manual chapter link at http://www.jointcommission.org/PatientSafety/NationalPatientSafetyGoals/09_hap_npsgs.htm.

The 2009 Hospital Accreditation Requirements now include a new Transplantation Safety chapter. This chapter contains requirements relating to organ and tissue handling. Formerly part of the Provision of Care, Treatment and Services chapter, these requirements are now contained within a separate chapter. In addition to the numbering changes, there have been some minor changes made to the text. A separate Transplant Safety chapter will result in much greater scrutiny of a hospital’s program, policies, and procedures relating to transplants and implants. For the full text see the Chapter link in the Transplant Safety section at http://www.jointcommission.org/Standards/SII/sii_hap.htm.

Medical facility administrators should be sure to review the complete standards in detail, in order to be prepared for when the standards are formally released. To find out more about how Tissue TrackCore can help your medical facility meet and exceed the current and the 2009 National Patient Safety Goals and Hospital Accreditation Requirements, you can visit our website at www.tissuetrackcore.com, call a sales and account representative at 1.866.574.8765 or email us at sales@tissuetrackcore.com

Tissue TrackCore Successfully Integrates With ORIS Operating Room Information System

Date: 4/29/2008

4/25/2008 – Through the use of secured web services, LPiTSolutions, Inc is successfully interfacing with ORIS (Operating Room Information System) to ease data entry and improve accuracy in its tissue tracking software aimed at assisting medical facilities in meeting Joint Commission standards for tracking allograft and autograft tissue.

In February 2008, integration with ORIS was established and since then WSIP has processed over 200 transactions per day for each facility that is utilizing this integration capability. Integrations, like the one with ORIS, are resulting in the increased operational efficiencies through reduced keystrokes and the elimination of redundantly entered data.

If you are a medical facility investigating tissue tracking compliance software and are interested in operational efficiencies and data integration be sure to talk to a Tissue TrackCore sales representative about utilizing Tissue TrackCore and WSIP. If you are an existing Tissue TrackCore user and want to further improve your operational efficiencies even more call your account representative or our technical support line and ask about our web services integration.

TrackCore a 'Rewarding Experience' - HCA Parham Doctors' Hospital

Date: 3/1/2008

“We, Parham Doctors’ Hospital, a campus of Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, went on line with TTC in September of 2008. The transition to the use of TTC has been a very rewarding experience. TTC has been there all the way in helping us ‘go live’. They have continued to help and are always available when questions come up. During the last three reviews that we have had with TJC or PPR surveyors, we always had an issue that was not up to standards. Because of TTC’s expertise and assistance, we had an outstanding review. The surveyor was very impressed that we had been ‘on line’ since September. She had suggestions that we might consider, such as sending physicians follow-up letters. She was very pleased to see that we were already doing this. Having this template in the TTC database makes this so much easier.

The staff have also adjusted to the documentation so much easier than they thought they would. Alan came down one day to help orient the staff and they said that his explanation of the system helped them so much. As a result, the tracking of tissue has become so much easier and, I feel, more complete.

I now feel that the safety of the patient receiving tissue has been upgraded to another level.”
